Umami Seasoning

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz dried mushroom*

  • ¼ cup onion powder

  • 2 Tbsp ground mustard

  • 1 Tbsp salt

  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp dried thyme


Directions:

  1. Add the dried mushrooms to a blender or food processor and blend for 5-10 seconds, or until it turns into a fine powder.

  2. Add the granulated onion, mustard powder, salt, red pepper flakes, black pepper and thyme to a bowl with the mushroom powder.

  3. Stir to combine all of the ingredients.

  4. Cover and store in an airtight container in the pantry for up to 6 months.

    *Note: This is about 10oz of fresh mushrooms. You can dry them out by cooking them in a single layer on a baking sheet at 170 degrees for 2-3 hours. After the first hour, stir and check every 30 minutes.
